While I’m generally more of a love at first sight kind of person, the slow burn here was done perfectly.

There is a male main character who is dealing with PTSD and depression, and a sassy but still likable female main character who is actually pretty caring. Least but not last, I literally can't enjoy a character properly when they're centuries old and act like they're in their 20s. I also really loved that we got 2 POVs, so we could see the story building from both Dianna and Liam's perspectives. No, we see people going to carnivals and The Modern Grill, watching TV, talking on cellphones, and going to the International Airport. Then we have Samkiel/Liam a tortured immortal god, monikered the World Ender for his past infamous exploits. I felt like I was just reading awkward conversations between these two the whole book while having info dumps on every aspect of this world thrown at me. I can’t wait to get to know more of the side characters, like the members of The Hand, and hopefully some much needed revenge on a few others. Overall this could have been a very solid romantic fantasy but it is still very flawed since it is a debut.

Similarly, there should have been way more to the dynamic between Kaden and Dianna – he is a completely evil being with extreme and unknown power, yet he wasn’t really involved in the story in a meaningful way. The supporting characters are pretty good themselves but not much revealed about them for me to judge or review them. However, Dianna wasn’t really a villain, and I would have liked to see her be a dark, eviler heroine rather than a misunderstood softy.
