This is a flat three holed bottom brewer, unlike the cone versions available with things like the V60 or chemex, which means the coffee is in contact with the water in a different way. The design of the filters work in perfect harmony with Kalita Wave drippers to create a pool of water on top of the coffee bed that can help control agitation, helping maintain a uniform extraction without too much turbulation (which could lead to over extraction).It may not be as beautiful as a Chemex or as funky as the Hario Woodneck (another personal favorite), but it’s sturdier than the former and less labor-intensive than the latter.

It is so simple to keep clean, when you are done brewing simply discard your filter and used coffee grounds into your compost or bin - no need to cover your sink with pesky remnants of your coffee!
