With charmingly naïve art by Tricia Newell, the original Mythic Tarot illuminates these deceptively simple tales of Greek gods and heroes once again.The cards themselves are about a standard sized tarot card and fit in my hand nicely, however, something some have complained about is the thinness of the cards. Sure the labels are in German, but the art is so distinct and vivid you’ll rarely use the labels anyway, so who cares? Finding the Mythic Tarot Workbook on kindle made me want to find a deck with the original artwork (the New Mythic Tarot version does absolutely nothing for me)! Juliet Sharman-Burke was born in Nairobi, Kenya and has spent over 20 years practising astrology and tarot and has written a number of books on these topics, both for beginners and the more advanced. Once you have grasped it completely, wielding this deck doesn’t truly seem like a hard task, though.

The card illustrations depict the archetypal characters of the Greek myths, whose experiences perfectly reflect the deeper patterns of our lives today.The New Mythic Tarot brings together all the elements that made the original version such a necessary deck for all Tarot enthusiasts. Every card of the Major Arcana is based on a story or figure from Greek mythology, and most of us are at least a little familiar with that without trying.

In the Mythic deck, the card depicts Psyche descending in to the underworld at night under the instruction of Aphrodite, to complete a task that will reunite her with her love, Eros. The Fool for example does not show the dog of tradition instead the brush of fox is worn on the belt He is shown emerging from a cave and he steps into the abyss.
